Shelby Middle School would like to welcome everyone to the 2011-2012 school
year. Located in the building that was constructed in 1924 and served as Shelby
High School, the middle school is home to all of the district’s seventh
and eighth graders.
The belief in the middle school philosophy remains strong in Shelby and it is
grounded in the foundation of our four core teams, our unified arts team and
our MD team. The Mustangs and the Pumas make up our 7th Grade teams, while the
Bears and the Chiefs make up our 8th Grade teams. All four core academic teams
offer the subjects of math, science, social studies, language arts and academic
content skills. Two other very important components of the middle school foundation
are our Life team and our Owls team. The Life team provides courses in; art,
band, choir, computers, family and consumer science, Spanish, sci-tech, study
skills, and wellness, while the Owls serve our students with multiple disabilities.
Therefore, it is our goal to help develop students into young men and women
that not only they themselves will be proud of, but the entire Shelby community
will be proud of as well.
2011-2012 promises to be a great year at Shelby Middle School; please feel free
