August, 2015Assistant Superintendent & Director of Curriculum,
Welcome to the office of the Assistant Superintendent/Director of Curriculum. The role of the Assistant Superintendent/Curriculum Director is to ensure that our students and teachers have the tools, materials, and resources to be ready for the demands of the 21st century. The heart of any school district is the delivery of instruction and the implementation of a standards-based, research-driven curriculum. My job, along with the help of the district and building level administration, is to monitor and support all instructional and professional development initiatives designed to improve the academic performance, and achievement for grades K-12.
This is an extremely important time for our school district to be prepared for the transformation happening in education; we are preparing our students for the rigorous state standards that will take. Starting in 2015-16 all students in grades 3-11 will be taking the Next Generation Assessments online. The way we taught students in the past simply does not prepare them for the global world. As a district, we are focused on preparing our students for the future as well as ensuring third graders are reading on level when they leave the elementary school. It is imperative that our students have the knowledge and skills to be competitive in the job market. I am confident our teachers, students, and community will rise to this challenge.
If you have any questions, please feel free to stop by or contact me. I look forward to hearing from you.
Paul M. Walker, Assistant Superintendent & Director of Curriculum
